A huge explosion causes 30 deaths and thousands of wounded persons at the AZF TOULOUSE chemical factory on September, 1st 2001, at the french city of Toulouse. Around 40.000 people stayed homeless for several days. The whole factory got destroyed creating a crater of 20 to 30 meters deep with a 200 meters and steel girders were found 3 km away from the explosion. The blast measured 3,4 on Richter scale with an estimated power equivalent to 20-40 tons of TNT. The factory was next to the city and several schools, one university campus, one hospital and a psychiatric hospital, all of them  had to be evacuated. Bostok Photo: Ander Gillenea
