The celebration of Ituren and Zubieta in Navarra mark the beginning of the Carnival season in the region. During the ceremony the Joaldunak (bellringers in basque language) from Ituren, carrying sheep furs and big cowbells tied to their backs meet their counter-part from Zubieta to parade in the streets, shaking cow bells to drive away evil spirits and hoping for good harvest.
